Surgical Removal of Teeth

surgical tooth extraction

Removal of teeth can be straight forward sometimes; however in some patients, this may not necessarily be the case. In some instances, your dentist will refer you to our dental surgeon, for what may seem like a simple  extraction.

There may be several reasons to indicate that the tooth/teeth be surgically removed including

  • the position of your tooth
  • the remaining tooth structure present
  • proximity to various structures within the jaw, adjacent teeth
  • medical history
  • or the root structure

You may also be referred to a dental surgeon in order to have the procedure performed under general anaesthesia if you are nervous about undergoing the procedure in the chair.

If you decide to have your tooth removed under a general anaesthetic, then this will be carried out at the Ballarat Day Procedure Centre.
