Grafting

Grafting

In some instances, the jaw bone may need to be reinforced to aid with stability of your dental implant. Grafting is the term used to describe this procedure. Grafting can be performed using a combination of your own bone and medically approved bone products.

Depending on the case, Dr. Goubrial may be able to graft and place your implant simultaneously. In some cases, the procedure may need to be staged in which the graft is placed first and then the implant is placed once the site has healed. Additional scans might be ordered to determine if grafting is required or not. Soft tissue (gum grafting) may also be required in some cases.

Most grafting procedures can usually be performed under local anaesthetic. However, major grafting procedures may require a day surgery.

During the consultation, Dr. Goubrial will discuss your procedure in detail and answer any questions you may have.
