Just like any other part of the body, the mouth, gums, tongue and jaws can have various abnormalities. These abnormalities can vary from simple benign cysts/tumours to malignant (cancerous) masses.

In order to determine what the lesion (abnormality) is; your dental surgeon may order special tests such as 3D imaging and blood tests. A biopsy may also be required in which the specimen is analysed under a microscope in a laboratory setting.

Depending on the location, size and invasiveness of the lesion, Dr. Goubrial will discuss with you if treatment is best performed under local anaesthetic or under general anaesthetic in a hospital setting.
